Mumbai has always been blessed with good, sufficient, heavy rains. The blessing as they say also has to be given to the deserving or the capable. This is what actualy can be seen in Mumbai. The city of lately not being able to sustain the load of rains.
The quantity of rains also as matter of fact have risen to noticeable levels but at the same time the clogging of water is being faced at alarmingly huge number of places and consistantly everytime asking for some action or remedy.
Mumbai as being flooded by the population has been in the midst of all problems arising due to it. Sustaining these high masses asks for an extra effort in all the departments viz., the electric supply, the water supply, other necessary services and the drainage. The Drainage system surprisingly has been the only system to be able to sustain itself against such a high increase in population. This system basically designed by the british still works mainly due to the farstretched provisions kept in the designing aspect of it.
For the Water Clogging parts of Mumbai if a simple vent in form of a small manhole is provided for water to get into the drainage and move out, the clogging would not occur. The moving load of water can be catered by the drainage if similar vents are provided as intervals to carry out the water before huge amounts start stagnating.
As automated mechanism such as a ball valve can be used to operate the opening of such vents/manholes. The lid is self operative on guide rails which may be provided to restrict the movement and falling off of the lid.
Guiding the water volumes off into the drainage thus would be a master move against the monstorous problem of water clogging in Mumbai.
